Anisa's Story
馃搷 Middle Tennessee, United States
For the first time, Anisa no longer lived under the constant fear that had defined life in her war-torn homeland. By God's grace, she and her children arrived in Middle Tennessee as legal residents, escaping the dangers they would have faced had they remained in their country.
Soon after arriving, however, the reality of beginning a new life became overwhelming. Without family nearby, Anisa found herself isolated, especially after becoming seriously ill and requiring hospitalization in Nashville.
Through God's providence, her situation became known to one of ILC's partner international churches serving people who speak her native language. Women from the church visited Anisa in the hospital, prayed with her, and cared for both her practical and spiritual needs.
After her release from the hospital, the church continued walking alongside her family by providing food, clothing, encouragement, and friendship. As they shared the Gospel, Anisa asked for a Bible because she wanted to learn more about the God who created her and about Jesus Christ.
Today, Anisa faithfully attends church and is teaching her children from the Word of God. Her story is one of many lives being transformed as people from more than fifty nations encounter the hope of Jesus Christ through ILC's ministry partners in Middle Tennessee.
Impact Reflection
Anisa's story reminds us that the Gospel reaches far beyond borders. Through local churches faithfully serving refugees and internationals, lives are being restored, families are finding hope, and new disciples are being made among the nations.
No one ever told me that there is a God who can be my Father, and that He loves me. I have always felt that God is an angry God and cannot be bothered with women or children.
